Architectural Tours

                                                      Come see the beautiful Romanesque St. Francis Xavier        
                                                      Church as it undergoes its transformation into Xavier Hall, the
                                                      new home of the Buffalo  Religious Arts Center. Learn the         
                                                      history of this uniquely American bascillica-styled landmark of
                                                      Black Rock, and see the growing collection of the Religious   
                                                      Arts Center, including items from St. Mary's of Sorrows, Queen
                                                      of Peace, Temple Beth El, and icons from the Russian
                                                      Orthodox Church.

The Artistic Heritage of Black Roc

                                                      The neighborhood of Black Rock holds an astoundingly rich art
                                                      and architectural history, from the magnificent former Saint
                                                      Francis Xavier Church, to the art deco home of Poet Laureate
                                                      Robert Creeley and historic storefronts on Niagara Street.
                                                      Explore this neighborhood in part outdoor walking tour, part
                                                      tour of the new Religious Arts Center, that celebrates the
                                                      religious art of Buffalo's immigrant and faithful.

Splendours in Stained Glass Bus Tour

                                               Our holiday bus tour of churches takes you to St. Francis Xavier
                                               Church, Trinity Episcopal, Saint Ann's Church and Shrine, and
                                               Corpus Christi. See windows by Tiffany, LaFarge, Zettler and
                                               Meyer - one of the best collections of stained glass artists in
                                               the world. The five hour tour includes transportation, entry into
                                               each church, admission to the Buffalo Religious Arts Center,
                                               lunch at Chef's, and a special organ recital at Xavier Hall.

                                               Reservations are Required.

                                                      former Saint Francis Xavier Church.

                                                      Conveniently located off the 190 expressway in Black Rock,
                                                      Xavier Hall is at the corner of East and Amherst Streets.

                                                      Directions from Niagara Falls, Grand Island, and the north   
                                                      towns:
                                                                      From the 190 South, exit at Ontario Street.
                                                                      Make a right on Niagara Street at the light
                                                                      Make a left on Amherst Street
                                                                      Make the second left, on East Street
                                                                      The Church is immediately on the right

                                                      Directions from Downtown Buffalo, Hamburg, and the south
                                                      towns:
                                                                      From the 190 North, take Exit 12 at Amherst Street
                                                                      Go straight through the light
